[The Daily Sentinel, March 5, 2010] You might just be one of those who see acai berry spam emails everyday. Some others see viral chat promotions. If you’ve been desperately looking for a quick weight loss solution for months or years, the unsolicited acai berry  promotion may just tempt you in.

The Better Business Bureau has already released the Top 10 list of scams and rip-offs of 2009. Many of these scammers are still on the loose to find the next victim and to take advantage of the tough financial times of 2010. Included in the top 10 are the said acai berry scams.

Most of these scams are found on the internet because of a huge readership with credit cards ready to purchase online. Steve Cox, President and CEO of Better Business Bureau, further notes even many of these scams are still perennial problems, there are still distinct scams of 2009 given the economic climate and the penchant for using top headlines and celebrity endorsements.

Among those that are ranked in the BBB’s top scams of 2009, acai berry supplements and free trial offers dominate the list.

Acai supplement scammers prowl in the web by spinning outrageous and unfounded claims that acai cures cancer, increase penile length in males, and lose weight in days. Some even claim associations with popular celebrities and offer “free trials”, which aims to get credit card information purportedly for shipping costs only, but bills the account month after month which does not give the consumer any choice or inform the consumer prior the purchase at the very least.

Thousands have already complained to the BBB of this scam and further states that these acai supplements are still shipped to them every month - when they have already cancelled because these do not work.

Acai bery scammers are still on the loose. For those who have been victimized by these scams, they should immediately contact their local law enforcement, their local BBB, or course their complaint at www.bbb.org.
